Etinosa Yvonne
VISUAL ARTIST
Etinosa Yvonne is a self-taught documentary photographer and visual artist based in Nigeria. She works with various art forms including photos and videos.
The primary focus of her work is the exploration of themes related to culture, religion, tradition, the environment, the human condition and social injustice.
She has received grants from National Geographic Society, Art X, Women Photograph as well as an award from National Geographic in partnership with Lagos Photo and the Royal Photographic Society for her project; It’s All In My Head.
She has participated in various Lab, mentorship and residency programmes.
In 2023, Etinosa was one of eight artists selected for the inaugural Advocacy and the ARTS Fellowship which is a collaboration between CARE International and the Rockefeller Foundation. Her works have been shown in biennales, festivals, museums and galleries in different parts of the world. Her works have also been published in several international publications. -
Aisha Aliyu Bima
CURATOR
Aisha Aliyu-Bima is an art curator, writer, researcher and photographer. She is the Director of Arts at the African School of Economics, Abuja, Nigeria.
Her work mainly focuses on Africa's contemporary arts through the lens of Language, Geography, Conflict, Material and History. Her research subjects include the Hausa Language, its influence and counter-influences across the Sahel and the interconnections in this region, the past and present cultures of Nok Valley; and material and ecological functions in African Art. She has been published in the Republic Journal, Radr Africa, and Za! Magazine. She has been a Curatorial resident at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris and Angels and Muse, Lagos.Her exhibition “Arewa?” which presented a nuanced tour of Northern Nigeria through the works of its three generations of contemporary artists opened at the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, Lagos in July 2024.

Sani Maikantanga
PHOTOJOURNALIST
Sani Mohammed Maikatanga was born in Giginyu, Nassarawa Local Government Area, Kano. He attended Giginyu Special Primary School from 1982 to 1989 before proceeding to Government Secondary School Tarauni, where he completed his junior secondary education between 1989 and 1991. From 1992 to 1994, he undertook the Federal Craft Examination at Government Technical College, Kano. He later attended the Federal College of Education Technical Bichi, earning a National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Electrical-Electronics from 1995 to 1999.
His journey into photography began in 1992 under the mentorship of Salisu Baso and Tijjani of NTA. In 2000, he transitioned into photojournalism, starting with FIM Magazine before joining Leadership Newspaper and later Daily Trust Newspaper, where he served for a decade. Over the years, he has also worked as a freelance photojournalist with international media organizations such as the Associated Press (AP) and Reuters News Agency.
Currently, Maikatanga works with MANHAJA, a Hausa-language newspaper published by Blueprint Newspaper. His work primarily focuses on documenting the culture, traditions, and contemporary life of northern Nigeria.

Ganeeyah Sani
CURATOR
Ganiyat Sani is a cultural manager with an interest in exporting Sahel African art to a global audience. She is the artistic director of Gazelle Creative Collective, and the curator of the annual Kaduna Fashion and Art Exhibition.

Hauwa Shaffii Nuhu
EDITOR
Hauwa Shaffii Nuhu is a poet and storyteller. She is currently the Managing Editor at HumAngle Media, where her work covers the human costs of conflict and terrorism in the Lake Chad region as they relate to transitional justice, migration, and displacement. She is a 2024 Ochberg Fellow, a 2023 Pulitzer Centre grantee, a 2023 International Women’s Media Foundation grantee, a 2022 Storify Africa fellow, and a 2018 Ebedi writer-in-residence. She has led or benefited from journalism workshops and panels across Africa, Europe, and the US.
Her chapbook of poetry “Sister” was selected and published by the African Poetry Book Fund (APBF) in collaboration with Akashic Books in 2021.
